J. RAMESH – Vocal Gifted with a
deep and resonant voice, Ramesh,
disciple of Padma Vibhushan Dr. M.
Balamuralikrishna and P.S. Narayanaswamy,
is one of the most popular singers for
dance today. Ramesh has traveled all
over the world giving vocal support to
some of India’s most famous Bharata
Natyam and Kuchipudi dancers, and his
repertoire of dance songs is both unique
and prodigious. Ramesh has studied
Kuchipudi for 13 years under the
incomparable Dr. Vempati Chinna Satyam,
and his knowledge of dance is an
additional asset to his performances.
Ramesh often composes music for new
choreographies by different artists. He
is a certified musician and dancer from
BKM Trust and Kuchipudi Arts Academy of
Chennai apart from being an accounting
major.
N. K. KESAVAN – Mridangam, Pakhwaj,
Chenda, Kanjira
One of the most respected and popular
mridangam accompanists for dance,
Kesavan’s brilliant innovations make him
stand out as a very creative artist in
his own right. He has played with the
likes of the great Pandit Ravi Shankar,
legendary film music directors Ilayaraja
and A. R. Rahman. He frequently composes
percussion sequences for dancers, and is
the brain behind an unusual composition
for dance called “Talking Drums”, in
which he played 12 different percussive
instruments. He has traveled the world
over with many reputed dance companies
of India.
B. MUTHUKUMAR – Flute
Hailing from a gifted family whose
musical lineage goes back to several
generations, Muthukumar is a highly
talented flautist with an excellent
reputation as one of Chennai’s best
young musicians. He has trained under
the renowned artist Dr. N. Ramani, and
is a recognized performer on Indian
Radio and Television. He is also a
successful accompanist for both
musicians and dancers, and a dedicated
teacher. He has an MA in music from
University of Tamil Nadu apart from
being an accounting major. |
